My main interests are in social influences on risk communication. I am interested in how various social factors, such as trust, power, recreancy, supererogatory, possibilistic thinking, et al, affect risk communication in various types of social systems.
I am also interested to explore how people’s attitudes towards environmental issue have been changing over time, and whether it is impacted by geographical location, or other social factors.
Lastly, I want to learn more about what kind of factors influence people’s decisions to participate in environmental movements. I would like to know who is involved in environmental activism, with a strong focus on gathering data on countries in the global South.
Azdren Coma graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Social Justice from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He worked on an undergraduate thesis through the departmental honors program, entitled Social Influences on Disaster Risk Communication, which was the recipient of the prestigious Henry Rutgers Scholar Award.
Since then, he has co-founded an environmental non-profit in his hometown of Struga, Macedonia F.Y.R.O., Struganët për Strugën/ Стружани за Струга, which has focused on the eradication of environmental crime in the region.
