Award: Fellowship.
Purpose: To provide fellowship stipends to be used by the recipient for such things as tuition and fees, subsistence, research expenses, and other education-related costs.
Eligibility: Graduate students in the Department of Sociology in good standing. First consideration shall be for African-American students, then multicultural students, and finally non-multicultural students. Students who attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff shall receive preference.
Criteria: Graduate student must demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing.
Application: In a clear and concise statement of no more than 400 words (double-spaced, 12 pt font, 1 inch margins), describe your qualifications for the award and justification of use of funds. The application should also include a budget (with the following expense categories: tuition & fees, subsistence, research expenses, and a description of other education-related cost), and a budget narrative that justifies use of each expense category (e.g., by demonstrating how the funds will support your research).
