WSU Sociology is not recruiting graduate student applicants for Fall 2021
After thoughtful discussions, faculty have voted to defer recruiting a graduate cohort that would begin in the Fall of 2021. This decision reflects the faculty’s priority of investing our energies and existing resources in our current graduate students who are making progress toward their degrees. Our goal is, has been, and will always be, to provide a rigorous and supportive scholarly environment for graduate study. We look forward to recruiting a graduate cohort for the Fall of 2022
Admissions
Between six and ten new students are admitted to the graduate program each year, with preference given to applicants who intend to complete the Ph.D. degree. In order to apply for admission to the graduate program in sociology, you must apply for admission to the Graduate School at Washington State University. The department also requires GRE scores, three letters of recommendation, a writing sample, and a brief statement of your professional interests, all of which are to be submitted directly to the Graduate School.
Applicants may send specific questions about the application to soc@wsu.edu. Feel free to reach out to the Director of Graduate Studies, Justin Denney. Questions relating to what it is like to be a graduate student in the Department of Sociology at WSU can be directed to the current student representative of Graduate Studies, Christie Miksys, or any member of our tenured or tenure-track faculty specializing in research topics in which the applicant may have an interest.
The application deadline is January 10th. We only consider admission for Fall semester.
