Race and ethnicity, international migration, health disparities, adolescent health, American Indian and Alaska Native health, Hispanic/Latino health.

My research interests are in the areas of race and ethnicity, international migration, social determinants of health, and health disparities. My long-term goal is to use the tools I acquired while studying sociology to understand the inequitable distribution of health outcomes and inform future interventions. I am currently examining the most important risk and protective factors for type 2 diabetes in American Indian and Alaska Native youth; the role of birth facilities in breastfeeding initiation outcomes and its disparities in Washington State; and the cost-effectiveness of outdoor preschools and their potential contribution to obesity and type 2 diabetes prevention efforts.
