Sustainable Consumption, Cultural Sociology and the Sociology of Consumption, Environmental Sociology, Environmental Justice and Inequality
My dissertation looks at practices of consumption with lower environmental impacts that are not typically included in the sustainable consumption literature because they are stigmatized. Analyzing practices of thrift store shopping and dumpster diving my research looks at how status is maintained and negotiated will engaging in stigmatized practices and problematizes the classed nature of mainstream sustainability.
