Where are our undergraduate students now?

Recent graduates of our undergraduate program have taken advantage of the adaptability of the bachelor of arts in sociology.  Here are just some of the jobs, internships and educational opportunities our students have experienced after earning their degrees.

Abby (2007) is a program coordinator with the federally funded Upward Bound program working with low income and first generation students to prepare them for college.  “I conduct workshops and put n events to promote going to college, but I find myself intrigued by their belief systems and by trends in college attendance!  The sociologist in me just comes out!”

Christy (2008) was accepted in to a competitive 18 month management training program for a large consumer finance agency with over 1500 branches in 45 states.  She is being trained to become a manager of one of the branches.

From Brenda (2005) “After graduation I started my internship with an adult day health center through ElderHealth Northwest.  I love working with the clients.  After my internship I was lucky enough to be hired as a case manager!”

After graduation Bryce (2006) began working as a budget analyst with the Department of Social and Health Services.

From Derek (2007)… “I GOT THE JOB…at Ferguson!!!   $38k a year, full benefits, a 401k, dental, vision, the whole package!!!  I also am interviewing for a position as a correctional officer, just for the practice!!”

DeWayne (2007) is working as a probation officer assistant for juvenile court services.  He hopes to be offered a probation officer position soon.

Kameisha (2006) I have been working with a Head Start program have recently accepted a position at Seattle University. Over the past few months I have also taken on more of an active role within my community, volunteering my time as a tutor/mentor for elementary school-aged children. I am also in the process of applying to grad schools for social work!

Sarah (2007) got a $55k a year position as a discharge planner at a senior care facility.

Nazir (2007) just completed his certificate program in Information Management through the University of Washington.

Maggie (2008) began a graduate program in International Relations at the University of Pennsylvania after completing an internship in Washington DC with the Department of Justice.
