Letter From the DGS: WSU Sociology excited to recruit the next generation of PhDs

Hello, All,

Justin Denney.I’ve written to you around this time the last couple of years—it is amazing how the world can change in a short period. The relevance of sociological inquiry, given all that has transpired in recent months, is unquestionable. Last year, we made a really difficult decision to suspend recruiting of a new cohort of doctoral students so we could invest more in our then-current students. I am proud of that difficult decision. I am also happy to report that we are now excitedly recruiting our next cohort. If you are in contact with individuals considering graduate study, encourage them to check out WSU Sociology. From climate change and energy consumption research to investigations of the unequal health burden brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, our faculty and students are working hard to understand processes and find solutions to problems impacting our communities.

If you haven’t checked us out in a while you may find some familiar and some new faces on our website. And please feel free to reach out to me with your ideas, experiences, and updates.

Yours sincerely,

Justin is taking a selfie with the rest of the group behind him.
