Fall 2022 Issue

Welcome to the Fall 2022 issue of Sociology News. In Pullman, Vancouver, and across the Pacific Northwest, we have been enjoying the changing colors of fall.

In this issue, we feature an interview with Dylan Bugden, the Boeing Distinguished Assistant Professor in Environmental Sociology.

Erik Johnson, the new director of Graduate Studies makes a call to alumni regarding the next generation of WSU Sociology PhDs. If you are in contact with individuals considering graduate study, we ask that you encourage them to check out WSU Sociology and apply to the graduate program. Also in this edition, we excitedly announce and introduce our new cohort of graduate students.

Additionally, we share memories from friends and colleagues of Professor Clayton Mosher, who unexpectedly passed away in January 2022.

For our Alumni Spotlight, we chat with Christine Oakley and learn about the many important ways she has applied her sociology PhD.

We also recognize the many publications, awards, and other accomplishments of our faculty and graduate students since our Spring edition. In addition, we highlight a recent alumni accomplishment, and encourage all alumni of the WSU Department of Sociology to send their accomplishments to sociology.news@wsu.edu to be shared in the newsletter.

The department is grateful for the support of our alumni and friends and wishes you well!
